Peace and Equality

It is only fitting today to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. As Civil Rights leader Dr. King was and is an example of a godly man with a godly mission. He lived a life of purpose. Infused with the Holy Spirit Dr. King understood that one person can make a difference. "A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus." He was not content to be ruled by the status qua, but was determined to create a new one.

Jesus Christ was his example in word, deed and character. He understood the need that this world has for men of moral fiber to stand up and be heard. "A nation or civilization that continues to produce soft-minded men purchases its own spiritual death on the installment plan."

Hebrews 10:39 says, "But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved."

Our lives need to be so infused with the power and purpose of the Holy Spirit of God that Jesus' words in Luke 6:27 resonate through our being, "But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you" This was Dr. King's vision of Peace and equality, "At the center of non-violence stands the principle of love."
