Today I spoke with a friend of mine who felt God's calling to go overseas for Christ. He was so excited about what God wanted him to do that he jumped in with both feet without looking to God for all the details. It became what he was doing not what God was going to do through him.
It seems that so often we get caught up in the big picture that we lose site of the details needed to reach that goal. A lot of times as Christians we feel God is only interested in the big things, but this isn't true. Look at Exodus 25-28. God is calling the people to build the Ark of the Covenant, the Tabernacle, the emblems used in worship and the Garments of the priests.
God sets out so much detail that some are forced to ask, "why does that mater?"
For example, in Exodus 25:10 God says you are going to build an Ark. Here are the details from this verse: acacia wood (not just wood but a type use for luxury furniture) It must be an exact height, length and width (2.5 cubits long, 1.5 cubits wide and 1.5 cubits high - a natural cubit is about 45 cm or 18 inches.) In the following verses God continues to add one detail after another until the result is all God's design not ours.
How much simpler would life be if we let God be in charge of the details?
